Sheriff's Office
Community Policing
Deputy Phil Green currently runs the Community
Policing Program within the Sheriffs Office, along
with K-9 Turbo. Deputy Green and Turbo visit
schools throughout the year and give K-9
presentations; conduct school searches, and gives
lectures on the Law Enforcement Profession.
Deputy
Green attends drivers training courses to promote
the STOPPED Program offered by the Michigan
Sheriffs Association. STOPPED is a parental
notification system that was developed by MSA to
reduce the number of young drivers who are injured
or killed in motor vehicle crashes each year.
Parents can register their vehicles on-line, and if
for any reason the vehicle is stopped by a Sheriffs
Deputy while a person under the age of 21 is
driving, the Deputy will complete a notification
card and a letter will be sent to the registered
owner of the vehicle with time of stop, driver name,
reason for stop, and whether any citations were
issued.
