Geographic Information Systems (GIS)

Since the late 90's GIS has evolved in Newaygo County and has become an integral part of county functions.  The GIS system started out with the conversion of paper parcel maps into applications that are used by a wide range of township, city, county, state, and federal agencies and departments.  In addition since 2005 we have also had a free public mapping area and a more open and accessible online map viewer 

       

Internet mapping applications are available by following the links below.  For high quality printed maps please contact the Equalization Department.

NOTE: The new online map viewer requires Microsoft Silverlight in order to run on your computer. If you do not already have Silverlight on your computer, you will be redirected to the Silverlight download page the first time you view the map at the link below. Latest County GIS News

  • The 2010 color orthophotography has been completed and is now included on the web map. Both the 1ft county wide photography and the 6in high resolution area that covers the Cities of Grant and Newaygo can now be viewed and printed.

  • Property and tax information is also available and open to all users.

  • There is a new and updated drain district layer.

Upcoming GIS Projects

  • A new, updated hydrology layer is being created with the new color orthophotographs

  • The GIS department is also planning and creating a map layer that will show all of the parks in Newaygo County. We also hope to add walking and bike trails, nature preserves, and campground information.

  • An updated road centerline layer is being planned.
