Geographic Information Systems (GIS)
|
|
Since the late 90's GIS has evolved in Newaygo County and has become
an integral part of county functions. The GIS system started
out with the conversion of paper parcel maps into applications that
are used by a wide range of township, city, county, state, and
federal agencies and departments. In addition since 2005 we
have also had a free public mapping area and a more advanced
subscription mapping area available.

Internet mapping applications are available by following the links

Equalization Department.
Latest County GIS
News
- All of the county
drain districts, court ordered lake level districts, and lake
boards are now available within HTML_V2 viewer under the
government access area.
- The HTML_V2
has a new feature! When Identifying, Selecting or Buffering
layers (ie the parcel layer). Scroll to the bottom of the
attribute results. There you will see a button that when
clicked will automatically export the results to an Excel
spreadsheet.
- Both the
Public Map Viewer and the government HTML (now HTML_V2) have been
redesigned. The layouts have been updated but most of the
tools are still the same or similar.
- Parcel acreage
information is available now in HTML view, all the subscription
views, and the public view. When identifying a parcel look
for the CALC_ACRE column. Acreage information is a rough
calculation of the parcels boundaries, this is by no means your
official acreage.
- Scanned 1976 Mylars
are now available online for government and nonprofit users.
Click the Government Access link on the GIS Navigation to your
right then follow the links to the photos.

- 6" Aerial
Photos, we have higher resolution photos than the 1' that are
currently available on the website. These will be added the
subscription and government mapping applications in the near
future.
- Zoning code
layer, this is now available on our new HTML_V2. This layer
was created using the zoning codes that townships and cities input
into their equalizer systems. This layer is in the
development stages but your more than welcome to check it out.
