Meeting/Minutes/Agendas

 

Regular meetings of the Board are held on the second and fourth Wednesday of each month at 9:30 a.m.  (Exceptions: The March 12, June 11, September 10, and December 10, 2008 meetings are scheduled at 6:30 p.m.; the December 24, 2008 meeting is re-scheduled to December 23, 2008 at 9:30 a.m.)  The meetings are held in the Commissioners Meeting Room, located at 1087 Newell St, White Cloud MI 49349.  Changes in schedule are posted at the front entrance of the County Offices Building.

2008 Commissioner Committee Information

The following committee meetings are held in the Commissioners' Meeting Room.  Changes in schedule are posted at the front entrance of the County Offices Building.

FINANCE - meets the first and third Wednesday of each month at 9:30 a.m. (Exceptions:  The March 5, 2008 meeting is rescheduled to March 7, 2008 at 9:30 a.m.;  the August 6, 2008 and November 5, 2008 meetings are scheduled at 1:00 p.m.)  Commissioner Daniel Powell is the Chairman.  Committee members: Julia Bird, Stanley Nieboer, Patrick Gardner, and Adam Wright.
  • Budget - Equalization - Insurance & Bonds - Personnel & Salary

PUBLIC SAFETY/JUDICIAL - meets the second Wednesday of each month at 10:30 a.m.  Commissioner Stanley Nieboer is the Chairman.  Committee members: Robert VanBelzen and Patrick Gardner.
  • Animal Control - Emergency Services - Central Dispatch - Sheriff - Jail - Marine - Junk Enforcement Officer - Courts - Prosecuting Attorney

HEALTH, EDUCATION & HUMAN SERVICES - meets the second Wednesday of each month at 1:00 p.m.  Commissioner Julia Bird is the Chairperson.  Committee members: Daniel Powell and D. Charles Trapp.
  • Public Services - Commission on Aging - Treasurer - Clerk - Register of Deeds - Veteran's Affairs - MSU Extension

PHYSICAL & ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT - meets the fourth Wednesday of each month at 10:30 a.m.  Commissioner Patrick Gardner is the Chairman.  Committee members: D. Charles Trapp and Robert VanBelzen.
  • Tourism - Economic Development - Environmental Issues - Parks and Recreation - Board of Public Works - Building/Safety Permits - Building and Grounds - Community Development - Drain Commission - Equalization - Surveyor - Informational Services

 

Citizen Appointments to Boards or Commissions

 

  • Persons interested in serving on county boards or commissions may apply for appointment by submitting an application to the Newaygo County Clerk.

  • Positions are published for available openings in the Fremont Times Indicator, and as indicated above.

  • Interviews are held during Board of Commission meetings, and are scheduled by the Administration Department.

  • Appointments are made at a subsequent Board of Commission meeting.

  • Applications are kept on file for a 1-year period.
