The Newaygo County Commission on Aging Advisory Board, staff, and volunteers are pleased to present to the citizens of Newaygo County a summary of services provided to the elderly during 2006.

Health Screening:    114 clients with screenings in Newaygo, White Cloud,      Fremont, and Ensley Center

Home Repair:    125 clients         683 contacts

Homemaker:      120 clients      2,903.5 hours

Respite:                13 clients             465.25 hours

Case Management:             553 clients       2134 hours     2,523 contacts

Home Delivered Meals:       365 clients      56,602 meals

Congregate Meals:              357 clients      14,882 meals

Senior Transit (Bus):            151 clients      12,386 trips      76,676 miles

Health Care Van:        289 clients (191 used wheelchair lift)

       5,029 trips (2,896 used wheelchair lift)

                                 104,267 miles

Volunteer Transport:   119 clients     999 trips           41,184 miles

Medicare/Medicaid Assistance Program (MMAP):    The MMAP program (consisting of one staff person who coordinates the program and 2 volunteers) was very busy due to the introduction of the Medicare Prescription Drug Program (Part D).  To provide information, MMAP provided press releases and information on a monthly basis via the Senior Clarion.  MMAP partnered with the surrounding Social Security Offices to do Part D Outreach Sessions, as well as a session with Peter Hoekstra's office.  Over 1000 people attended the various sessions.   MMAP performed over 550 planfinders/enrollments and handled over 400 calls requesting information.

The Senior Clarion:  There is no subscription fee.  4,597 households received the Senior Clarion with an additional 200-250 distributed at various locales around the county
