Animal Control

Adoptions



The Newaygo County Animal Shelter is open on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 11:00 a.m. to  1:00 p.m. and is closed on Wednesdays.

Although the Newaygo County Animal Shelter is only required to handle dogs we do have a cat room available for those interested in adopting cats or kittens.  Newaygo County Animal Shelter adoption fees are as follows:

Adoptions
$10.00 plus a refundable deposit of $25.00 w/proof of spay/.neuter
$5.00 plus a refundable deposit of $25.00 w/proof of spay/neuter
Owner Surrender
$25.00
Puppies under 6 months old $5.00

$10.00
Kittens under 6 months old $5.00

Return to Owner

$25.00

$25.00

Trap Deposit Cash Only

$35.00 which is refunded when the trap is returned in good condition

Euthanization

$25.00

By law, all animals adopted from an animal shelter must be spayed or neutered.

We are required by state law to collect a spay/neuter deposit.  The spay/neuter deposit will be returned upon receipt of a document verifying that the animal adopted has been spayed/neutered.   An adoption agreement must be completed at the time of adoption.
